Silly Salt Man Game

Both boys are very into playing games right now.  I've been trying to come up with games for skills that they need practice with. Handwriting and letter identification are two areas that we are working on and I thought we could write letters in salt but make it a game.  I made a bunch of cards for what we would write in the salt.

I included the letters in both kids names, letters L's been learning in school, a few shapes, lines and some fun things. For fun I added trees, balloons and silly salt man. Silly salt man it a simple face but I drew him with various emotions. This prompted discussion of what emotion silly salt man had as well. The boys thought it was fun to find a silly salt man card and see if he was happy, sad etc. I put all the card face down in the middle of the table and poured salt in a round cake pan for each of us.

To play we took turns drawing a card then we all drew what was on the card in our salt.
