Shortest to Longest Christmas Trees

I saw a really cute Christmas tree craft on Preschool lesson plans and knew I wanted to make our own version. We used blue paper for the background, brown paper rectangle for the trunk and 6 strips of green paper in varying lengths.

First I had the boys lay out the strips of green paper from shortest for the top of the tree to longest at the bottom. We had a lot of discussion about length and I showed them how to line up one side of the paper strips to see which was longer.

After we had the trees laid out we used glue sticks to glue them in place.
L wanted to glue his tree "his own way" and said it looked more like a real tree to switch 2 of the strips. He understood which one was longer but just liked how it looked this way better. He has been really displaying his creative side lately and wanting to do things "his own way". I think its great when he wants to make a project his own.
Then they decorated their trees. We used foam Christmas stickers, sequins and wrapping paper scraps.
