I cut out a large circle from brown construction paper and added a red head, orange beak and feet, and sequin eyes.
I cut the feathers out of scrap construction paper an numbered them 1-12. I included an activity for Thanksgiving day too.
For each numbered feather I wrote our activity on the back and wrote it on my calendar so I can be sure to have everything ready. I taped the feathers to the turkey.
I took some inspiration for the activities from some ideas I'd seen on pinterest .I will be posting the projects we do as we do them but here are some ideas:
- Read a Thanksgiving story
- Watch a Thanksgiving movie and pop popcorn
- Go to the store and pick out cans to donate to a local food bank
- Make playdough turkeys.
- Make corn muffins
- Make Thanksgiving hostess gifts
- Make a hand print turkey. Found some cute ones: .freepreschoolcrafts.com, ecemadeeasy.com
- Make Native American headbands
- Make Pumpkin Scones
- Make a paper plate teepee
- Make a Thankful tree
- Play Thanksgiving bingo
- Make butter: We have done this every year on thanksgiving since I was little
