We have been enjoying the book All You Need For a Snowman by Alice Schertle. We made this cute Doily Snowman to go along with the story.
Both boys really liked the story All You Need For a Snowman. It is about all the steps and things you would use to make a very large snowman. There is some predictable text and lots of spots where kids can predict the next step in building a snowman. The illustrations are beautiful.
Now on to the craft! We started by drawing snow flakes on a large sheet of construction paper with a white crayon.
Then the boys lined up and glued on a small, medium and large doily to make the snowman's body. I didn't have any small doilies so I cut some of the lacy part off the medium doily to make it smaller.
We used glue sticks to glue down the doilies.
Then time to decorate. I put out some fabric, buttons, Popsicle sticks, scissors and scrap paper.
We talked about what we would need for a snowman. L asked me to draw a hat and boots that he could cut out.
We used Popsicle sticks for the arms and a strip of fabric for the scarf.
Finished!
These are so cute! We haven't read that book and I'm going to add it to my library list. It looks like so much fun. I'm coming over from Thirfty Thursday and am a new follower. It looks like we have a similar interest in children's literature and crafting with our children so I know I will be enjoying your blog. :)
