Snowy Shaving Cream and Cardboard Sculptures

 I've been tossing random pieces of cardboard and packaging in a bin and I thought it would be fun to make some "snowy" sculptures. I set out a big piece of cardboard for each of the boys to use for a base. I set out my bin of cardboard pieces, toilet paper rolls and egg cartons. I also added some colorful stuff to another bin- buttons, craft foam, pom poms, Popsicle sticks, etc. I also used white glue and shaving cream to make the puffy glue to hold everything together.

 We made some puffy glue using about 1 part white glue to 2 parts shaving cream. I've made this puffy paint before to make snowmen crafts and the kids really liked it. I thought it would make good snow for making cardboard sculptures. Its pretty sticky so it helped hold things upright and it dries puffy.

The boys started digging though the cardboard and gluing pieces in place.

I cut some of the tubes in to half lengthwise. The boys thought these would make good slides.

"This is a slide. I'm gonna put kids on the slide."

They kept adding things both boys wanted to make snowy playgrounds.

I gave the boys spoons to scoop the puffy but L dug right in with his hands.

The boys wanted to make trees by putting the cardboard cones on top of a toilet paper tube.

The whole time we were talking about what they were making and what they wanted each shape to be.

They had lots of fun adding and adding to their snowy scenes.

E discovered the Popsicle sticks worked well to spread the puffy glue.

 

Once they got most of the  bigger pieces in place they added some pom poms and buttons.
