Fun with Water Beads

I saw the idea for playing with water beads on Play at Home Mom and thought the boys would really enjoy it. Water beads are a water retaining polymer beads that swell up in water. They are non toxic and sold to be used in flower arranging. We found ours in the craft section at Walmart.  You add the dry beads to water and let them sit for 4-6 hours then play.

The water beads have an interesting squishy texture that the kids really liked. They started pretending they were fish eggs. This lead to one problem thou they started squishing them to "hatch the eggs". They can be squished and kinda make a mess so when they started that I put them away for another day. Also do not put them down the drain.

  1. One of the most appealing features of water beads is that they feel so cool to the touch. Little kids love to run their fingers through them as do adults if they were to be totally honest.
