Fine Motor Challenge Accepted

I've been racking my brain the past few days to build L's interest in fine motor and writing activities. Tonight I invented the Challenge Game and the boys loved it. I came up with a few activities that help build fine motor skills and the muscles needed for writing and I presented them to the boys as a challenge. I would give them specific parameters for the challenge and ask them if the challenge was accepted. They were so excited I am brainstorming additional challenges.

Tonight's Challenges:

1) Ball up 5 pieces of newspaper as tight as possible and throw into the recycling bin.

 2) Twist 5 pieces of newspaper and run them to the recycling bin.

 3) Rip up a piece of newspaper into pieces small enough to fit in a plastic container and fill the container.

 4) Build the tallest tower you can using the legos in your cup.

These were fairly quick challenges using items we had in the house that helped build some fine motor and problem solving skills. For my boys the fact that they were presented as a challenge motivated them a lot.

  1. I think my little one who is about 1 1/2 behind on fine motor skills could benefit with these activities :) thanks for sharing
